Beginning in December 2024, the West Memorial MUD undertook, with agreement from the West Memorial Home Owners Association, improvements to the West Memorial Park, located adjacent to the Clubhouse and located on the corner of Kingsland and Promenade.

Our primary goal was the safety of the families, with emphasis on the children, using the Park. We started by removing dead tree limbs and late into the project, removing all the bushes from the back side of the Park; stumps were ground out as part of the project. We then installed gutters and downspouts on the pavilion to eliminate the continual soil erosion into the drainage system. Mulch was installed under both play areas and ultimately, under the younger children’s rides. All above ground roots were removed to minimize any tripping hazard. The back side of the playground has been planted with a non-invasive bamboo which will ultimately provide a sound barrier for the homes with back yards facing the Park.

After the sprinkler system was repaired, we put down weed killer and a few weeks later, grass seed.
Last, the Park has now been totally enclosed with additional fencing and gates, providing a safer environment for our residents.
As these changes have been made, the aesthetics of the Park have also improved.
We encourage everyone to visit and enjoy the Park!
